Universal has dropped the second trailer for the animated sequel Despicable Me 4 [DESM4], the sixth film in the franchise from Illumination.  Steve Carell [SCARE] returns to voice Gru, who has welcomed a new member, Gru Jr., to his family, while facing a new nemesis, played by Will Ferrell [WFERR]  and Sofia Vergara [SVERG]. Pierre Coffin returns as the voice of the Minions, who have been combined to form Mega Minions. Despicable Me 4 will hit theaters on July 3rd.

The first weekend of movie blockbuster season got off to a slow start as The Fall Guy [FALGY] underwhelmed the box office with an estimated $28.5 million. The action comedy drew 44% of its gross from large-format screens.

The 25th Anniversary of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace finished second with $8.08 million.

Last weekend’s champ Challengers [CHALN] declined 49% from its opening set to $7.64 million. The sports drama has scored $29.46 million.

Angel Studios has released the second trailer for the biographical drama Sight [SIGHT] based on the true story of Dr. Ming Wang, a Chinese immigrant who become an eye surgeon.  Ben Wang [BWANG] plays as the doctor as a youth in China caught up during the turmoil of the Cultural Revolution.  Terry Chen plays the doctor as the adult who came to the United States to attend medical school and went on to develop a new technique that restored the vision of the blind. Walt Disney Studios has unveiled the teaser trailer for the animated prequel Mufasa: The Lion King [LION2].  Aaron Pierre  voices younga Mufasa while Kelvin Harrison Jr. [JHARR] voices Taka, a lion prince who accepts Mufasa into his family as a brother. Directed by Barry Jenkins [BJENK], Mufasa: The Lion King arrives in theaters on December 20th.

Taking advantage of a slow week at the weekend box office, Challengers [CHALN] took first place with an estimated $15.01 million. The R-rate tennis romance attracted an audience that was 58% female, and 76% between the ages of 18-34.

Unsung Hero [UNSUN] debuted in second place with $7.75 million. The faith-based drama drew 69% females and 79% over the age of 35.
