Prometheus rises out of the Alien prequel

What began in development as a prequel set before 1979's Alien has evolved into Prometheus [PROME], a spin-off film set in the same sci-fi universe.  Fox has announced a release date of March 9, 2012 for the film directed by Ridley Scott [RSCOT].   Noomi Rapace [NRAPA] will star in the lead role of Elizabeth Shaw, one crew member of the spaceship, persumably called Prometheus, that will encounter a new monstrous creature.   The new alien being is likely to be of the same race as the one who piloted the derelict spaceship found by the crew of the Nostromo in Alien.

This blows! Unless this leads directly to the derelict ship I will be super bummed about this shift-sideways. When it says "new monstrous creature" does that mean the ALIEN beings or ANOTHER, actually new creature?

Probably the skeleton with the missing chest they found in that derelict space ship in the original alien film is a hint to the creature in question.
