...enough investment opportunities.
It is a surprising thing to me too and I've had some long talks with some academic type people about this too but it still doesn't add up to me. I don't see why more women aren't doing these jobs. It sure seems like all people that applied themselves and had great ideas could make it happen but the numbers don't lie. There simply is a very uneven proportion of males and females in the industry. It's somewhat true on the acting side too which seems even more odd considering, um, acting and the need for both males and females in it.
I guess at the executive level there is still a bit of a "boy's club" going on, but it still seems like this industry is lagging a ways behind most others in this particular department. And this is coming from a guy that initially didn't even want to believe it was true because I didn't see it. But when a friend of mine broke it down and showed my some of the stats across many of the entertainment professions, I was very surprised. But I haven't come up with an answer for why yet.
But my guess for the answer of why there isn't a Celluloid Ceiling fund would be that there just aren't enough viable products to make it work. And it's a strange shame.
