Cameron brings life to 'Dinosaurs'
BBC Earth reboot to bow late 2013
Cameron-Pace Group's Fusion 3D system will be used on ''Walking with Dinosaurs 3D,'' the co-production between BBC Earth, Evergreen Films and Reliance Big Entertainment.
The companies made the announcement Thursday. Cameron-Pace is the joint venture formed by director James Cameron and his longtime tech collaborator, 3D guru Vince Pace.
'''Walking with Dinosaurs 3D' offers a fantastic opportunity to push our advances in 3D even further,'' Cameron said. ''We're inspired by the creative ambition behind the film and the opportunity to work on a feature that aims to bring audiences a real, visceral experience.''
The reboot of the 12-year-old BBC factual series is part of BBC Earth's push into the theatrical arena. BBC Earth, the natural history arm of BBC Worldwide, was set up two years ago to exploit the pubcaster's brand and expertise as the world's biggest producer of nature programming.
The production is using animation from Animal Logic (''Happy Feet'') working with animation producer Jinko Gotoh (''9'', ''Finding Nemo''). The film is fully financed by Reliance Entertainment with worldwide rights being handled by its subsidiary IM Global.
Fox has U.S. rights and has scheduled ''Walking with Dinosaurs 3D'' for a late 2013 release.
