I don't think there is a significant difference. If you give people the choice between 2D and 3D, they will mostly pick 3D. But if you
don't give them that choice, they will just all go see it in 2D. You're right about one thing, it will be interesting to see a matchup between a movie that seems centered on special effects and a movie with probably more substance. This is where it will be played. It's a matchup between a last installment in a trilogy where the second-one was a huge hit and critically acclaimed with a visionary director and a movie with (probably) amazing special effects and a build-up from movies like Iron Man, Thor, etc. I still pick The Dark Knight Rises.
