Indeed, and for me it's even better because... (SPOILERS inside)
... it doesn't matter if it is a real documentary or a fake / mockumentary / partly staged doc as some viewers and reviewers have suggested. In fact, that only emphasizes the theme of the movie: where does reality end and fiction begin, and does it matter? Who is to say that a fiction you create for yourself is any worse than reality?
The uncertain genre / nature of the movie itself added to my viewing experience, is what I mean.
