I'd see it again, too; it was absorbing, and spectacular. If I were brought in to re-write one scene...
... it would be the scene where Weyland "appears," and talks Shaw into going back into the ship. There has to be a more plausible way to get her back; that would usually involve a rescue attempt of some sort. But there wouldn't have to be... there's just something mis-handled here. Think of the parallel situation in "Contact," where JFOST's character has a sneaky, dying industrialist pulling the strings; that relationship is spacious and credible, and there really isn't one between Weyland and Shaw. David takes an interest in her, and the captain, a little. There has to be a way to fix this moment without spoiling its Kubrickian chill quality.
