There were a surprising number of empty seats at the 1:15 screening at Arclight Hollywood. We anticipated the place being packed; we'd bought our tickets last night thinking we'd make sure we could get in. Quite a surprised to see 2/3 of the theater empty.
The film was good, a fine entry in the low budget horror genre. There's no question the hype had an effect on us, as we found the pic relatively underwhelming. Still, it's well crafted and it definitely had its moments. That girl sure looks like Brittany Murphy! Quite the resemblence.
Saying that, I hope everybody goes to the theater to see this one. If it's going to get a wide release, here's hoping that movie lovers go out and give it a viewing. It has several things going for it; it's NOT a comic book superhero flick and nobody lost brain cells making this one.
PS: What was going on out there on Sunset today? They had the street closed off at Amoeba, and much of Hollywood traffic was reduced to a giant parking lot all afternoon. It was a complete nightmare trying to get around today.
With the TCM fest next weekend, and the Film Noir Fest starting the weekend after, all that traffic does not bode well....
