In Captain America: The First Avenger, Cap rescues alot of US soldiers from an enemy detention center. Later he approaches a group of them in a bar and asks them if they want to do something important, and they agree.
In Capatain America: The Winter Soldier, Cap visits a museum exhibit about himself and the same soldiers are shown in the exhibit as Captain America's Howling Commandos. There was only one member of the Howling Commandos that was African American (and he was being experimented upon by Hydra in Captain America: The First Avenger when Cap infitrates the compound and rescues him and then all the other soldiers.
There is a rumor going around the internet that hints what Captain America 3 might be about. If the rumors are correct, information from tonight's episode could ('should') tie into Captain America 3.

The Cellist in tonight's episode was mentioned in The Avengers movie.
At the beginning of The Avengers, Coulson visits Stark Tower and Pepper asks how The Cellist is doing and Coulson replies that she has moved to Portland.
Later on the hellicarrier, Tony Stark mentions flying Coulson to Portland to see The Cellist ("to keep love alive")
After Coulson has died, Captain America asks Iron Man if Coulson had any family, and Iron Man says 'No, but there was a cellist'
