A legendary singer of the '60s and a rock n' roll icon, Janis Joplin will finally get her retrospective acclaim in the film covering her life. The independent production, Joplin - The Movie, was written by Joel Freedman (Broken Treaty at Battle Mountain and To Protect Mother Earth), who will also direct and produce the film. Freedman's screenplay, based on interviews with close friends, will trace Joplin's life from early childhood to her tragic heroin overdose at only age 27.
