With a handful of film credits through the early '80s, Kevin Costner landed a big break in the 1985 Lawrence Kasdan film Silverado. With two well-received roles in the 1987 films The Untouchables and No Way Out, Costner hit his stride through the rest of the decade, and began the 1990s with a Best Director Oscar for his epic Dances with Wolves. On the heels of his very successful 1992 film The Bodyguard, Costner lost his Midas touch with the big-budgeted bombs Waterworld and The Postman. In 1999, Costner returned to romantic fares in Message in a Bottle, and For Love of the Game. |
