Born in Howth, Ireland, Stuart Townsend is the son of professional golfer Peter Townsend. He graduated from the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin in 1994 and has appeared a number of British films, including Shooting Fish, Wonderland and Simon Magus. 2001 served as a breakout year with starring roles in About Adam and Queen of the Damned. However, Townsend may be best known for being replaced as Aragon in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and as Mr. Charlize Theron.
