24 Hour Party People is a film about the legendary Manchester music scene which gave rise to bands such as Joy Division, the Happy Mondays, the Smiths and the Durutti Column that dominated the late eighties and early nineties. The film is seen through the eyes of the men who founded Factory Records, the label that helped launch many of these bands. The film will take place at the Hacienda, the world famous venue where these bands were discovered. The bands will be protrayed by actors. Michael Winterbottom (Jude and Welcome to Sarajevo) directs 24 Hour Party People from a script by Frank Cattrell Boyce. The film is produced by MGM and Revolution Studios.
