Description
Based on an off Broadway play by Michael Henry Brown, 3/5 Of a Man chronicles the slave rebellion of 1831 in Virginia led by Nat Turner. The title of the film refers to the Constitutional language that counted a black man as only three-fifths when determining Congressional representation. Turner led one of the earliest and most successful slave rebellions but was lynched soon after. Anthony Mackie stars as Turner while Ving Rhames co-stars and also produces. Akosua Busia makes her directorial debut from Brown's adapted script.
