Description
The Contender is a political drama that chronicles the nomination of the first female vice president, played by Joan Allen. Jeff Bridges plays the Presidnet while Gary Oldman plays the political adversary who will stop at nothing to sabotage the nomination.
The film is the second from movie critic turned writer-director Rod Lurie. In his first film Deterrence, also dealt with a President under crisis. The Contender also stars Christian Slater and Sam Elliot.
