Description
With stunning girl-next-door looks, Elisabeth Shue spent much of her early career playing the girlfriend of everyone from Ralph Macchio -- in 1984's The Karate Kid -- to Tom Cruise -- in 1988's Cocktail. Often used for little more than a pretty face, Shue's career had lacked any solid roles up through the early 1990s. Her fortune would change in 1995, however. Cast as a sympathetic prostitute in 1995's Leaving Las Vegas, Shue starred opposite Nicolas Cage and earned an Oscar nomination for her gritty-yet-frail performance as Sera.
