Description
Best known for his title role in the 1970 epic, Patton, George C. Scott earned four Oscar nominations from 1959 to 1971. Naturally, the bulk of Scott's strongest work was in the 60's, with roles in such classic films as The Hustler, The List of Adrian Messenger and Dr. Strangelove. Scott began the 70's in auspicious fashion, however, winning the Oscar for Patton, and scoring another Best Actor nomination the following year for The Hospital. No friend of the Academy, Scott refused to accept his Oscar in 1970, taking issue with the pompous nature of the awards ceremony. Since the 70's, Scott has continued to work steadily, but has usually chosen to ply his talent in made-for-TV fare.
