Description
The novel The Giver is written by 1994 Newbery Medal winner Lois Lowry. In the vein of Brave New World, The Giver examines the undercurrents of a supposed utopian culture. It centers around a 12-year old boy who is given the responsibilities of 'Receiver of Memories'. The boy goes on to study with Elders and a particular old gentleman called the Giver. He begins to slowly understand that the society he lives in is not as smooth running as it seems and there are troubling realities to be addressed. Vadim Perelman is attached to direct.
