Description
Welshman Ioan Gruffudd (pronounce like YO-an Griffith) began his acting career at age 14 with the Welsh Soap Opera. He then attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and made his professional debut in the 1996 British film Poldark. But it was in the 1997 blockbuster Titanic, in which Gruffudd played Fifth Officer Lowe, that he first gained recognition.
Gruffudd also captured much critical praise for his portrayal of the popular, fictional British naval officer, Horatio Hornblower, in the four-part television series of the same name. Gruffudd's recent acting work can be seen in Solomon and Gaenor, which is a 2000 Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Language Film. Gruffudd will later star in 102 Dalmatians, and Pavarotti in Dad's Room.
