Description
Joan Chen became a top star in China as a teenager, winning China's Best Actress award for her performance in Little Flower. In America, the actress is best known for her work in 1987's Oscar-winning epic The Last Emperor and her role as Jocelyn "Josie" Packard on the cult television series Twin Peaks.
In 1998, Chen segued from acting to directing with the acclaimed film Tian yu, also known as Xiu Xiu: The Sent-Down Girl. Chen went on to direct the romantic comedy-drama Autumn in New York, which stars Richard Gere and Winona Ryder.
Back on the acting front, Chen recently starred with Juliana Margulies, Alfre Woodard, and Kyra Sedgwick in the drama What's Cooking.
