Description
Star of the hit HBO series The Sopranos, James Gandolfini has appeared in diverse film roles in movies like Get Shorty, True Romance, Crimson Tide and 8MM. His big-screen debut was in Sydney Lumet's A Stranger Among Us.
Gandolfini, who captured the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award in 2000 for Best Actor in a TV drama, will next star alongside Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts in the action-comedy, The Mexican.
A native of New Jersey and a graduate of Rutgers University, Gandolfini began his acting career in the New York theatre. His Broadway debut was in the 1992 revival of A Streetcar Named Desire with Jessica Lange and Alec Baldwin. His New York stage credits also include: On the Waterfront, One Day Wonder with the Actor's Studio; Summer Winds with The Naked Angels; and Tarantulas Dancing at the Samuel Beckett Theatre.
