Description
John Travolta has lived two lives in Hollywood: the one leading up to 1983's Staying Alive, and the one after 1993's Pulp Fiction. An overnight celebrity in 1975, Travolta become a T.V. icon with his role as Vinnie Barbarino on Welcome Back, Kotter. Travolta began starring in movies shortly thereafter, appearing in a remarkable string of pop culture classics, including 1977's Saturday Night Fever and 1978's Grease. But 1983's Staying Alive, the follow-up to Saturday Night Fever, would be Travolta's last film of note for almost a decade. A series of career missteps through the 1980's relegated Travolta to a has-been. Even a positive comeback role in Look Who's Talking was still not enough to put Travolta back into the spotlight. All of this changed when Quentin Tarantino cast Travolta in the ultra-hip crime drama, Pulp Fiction, and by doing so, revived his once-dormant career to put him back on Hollywood's A-list. Since then, Travolta has become one of the most popular and bankable stars - playing in such box office hits as Face/Off, Get Shorty and A Civil Action.
