Description
Based on a true story, K-19 chronicles a Russian submarine crew's heroic attempt to maintain the vessel and avert a nuclear meltdown. On July 4, 1961, a Russian submarine experienced a leak that set off its reactor emergency systems. To save themselves and the missile submarine, the crew worked for extended periods under radioactive conditions.
Harrison Ford stars as the Russian Captain. Katheryn Bigelow (Strange Days) directs the drama penned by Christopher Kyle and Louis Novra. Liam Neeson co-stars.
