Description
As a former member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and the founder of the Renaissance Theatre Company, perhaps it was only natural for Kenneth Branagh to bring Shakespeare to the big screen. With his first directorial effort -- 1989's Henry V -- Branagh scored Oscar nominations for Best Actor and Best Director. Follow-up efforts included 1993's Much Ado about Nothing and 1996's Hamlet,. Although Shakespeare has helped Branagh establish his niche in Hollywood, the Irish-born actor has also appeared in such films as 1991's Dead Again and in Robert Altman's take on John Grisham, in 1998's The Gingerbread Man.
