Description
After essaying a couple roles in Vietnam-inspired cinema, Michael Douglas first attracted attention in 1972, as a rookie detective in the television drama The Streets of San Francisco. A pretty hip series even by today's standards, the show paired Douglas opposite Karl Malden, and maintained solid ratings until Douglas left in 1976. By the time the mid-80's rolled around, Douglas had really hit his stride, starring in 1984's Romancing the Stone, as well as the 1987 films Fatal Attraction and Wall Street. For the latter film, Douglas won the Oscar for Best Actor. Douglas continued to star in memorable films in the 90's, most notably, the 1992 thriller Basic Instinct.
