Description
Lancashire, England native Mike Leigh actually began his career as an acting trainee at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art but transferred instead to the London Film School when he realized he preferred to work behind the camera. Leigh gained serious critical attention for 1989's High Hopes followed by 1993's Naked. Secrets and Lies in 1996 cemented Leigh's reputation as someone at the pinnacle of his craft.
