Description
As an actress struggling to get into the business, Mira Sorvino spent her early career working as a production assistant. When she landed a gig as the third assistant director for the 1992 film Amongst Friends, Sorvino moved up the filmmaking food chain to casting director, then to associate producer, and then to a lead role. Her performance in the film earned positive reviews, and soon Sorvino had follow-up roles in the 1994 films Barcelona and Quiz Show. The following year, Sorvino won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her work in Woody Allen's Mighty Aphrodite. With several genres already to her credit, Sorvino's recent efforts include 1998's action flick The Replacement Killers, as well as the 1999 romance drama At First Sight.
