Description
Set in London, circa 1977, the story revolves around a young couple living in the upscale community of Metroland.
Having lapsed into sexual routine and marital rationing with Marion, Chris increasingly begins to dwell on his time in Paris during the late '60s when he was a student. His angst is fueled with arrival of a boyhood friend, with whom he once shared the dream of fleeing middle-class complacency to live in bohemian splendor in Paris.
Over the course of the story, Chris comes to realize that he may be just another unexceptional suburban guy with a mortgage and nine-to-five job.
Under the direction of Philip Saville, this story about two friends and the compromises each one makes for love and marriage is said to boost a witty script and strong performances.
