No Such Thing tells the story of a young journalist who travels to Iceland in search of his missing fianci. During his adventure, he develops a close friendship with a mythical monster (Robert John Burke) and later befriends the creature. The film, set in New York and Iceland, is loosely based on the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast. Sarah Polley, Julie Christie, and Helen Mirren will co-star.
Francis Ford Coppola (Sleepy Hollow) produced the romantic film that was written and directed by Hal Hartley (Trust, Henry Fool). Burke (Thinner, RoboCop III) previously worked with Hartley on Simple Men and The Unbelievable Truth.
