Description

A native of Chicago, Philip Kaufman has helmed such feature films as Henry and June -- the first film to receive the dreaded NC-17 rating , The Unbearable Lightness of Being, and a 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. In 1983, Kaufman directed the silver screen adaptation of Thomas Wolfe's popular novel The Right Stuff. Kaufman is also billed with a story credit, along with George Lucas, for 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark. In 2000 he directed the drama Quills.
