Description
Raised in Leeds England, the remarkable Irish actor received seven Oscar noms, but has never won an Oscar. O'Toole is most renowned for his 1962 performance as T.E. Lawrence, in David Lean's masterpiece, Lawrence of Arabia. Other rememorable roles include King Henry II in The Lion in Winter, a shy teacher in Goodbye, Mr. Chips, and in perhaps his finest comedic role, O'Toole played Alan Swann in the 1982 film, My Favorite Year. In 1988, O'Toole starred in Best Picture winner The Last Emperor. Other notable films include The Stunt Man (1980), The Ruling Class (1972), and How to Steal a Million (1966). Although he is not seen often in films today, Peter O'Toole remains one of the greatest actors in cinematic history. In 2003, O'Toole was given an honorary Oscar for his lifetime acheivement in film.
