Description
Considering that Pretty Woman grossed a whopping $178 million in 1990, Runaway Bride is the kind of film that studios dream of developing. After all, the film has all of the trappings of a classic date movie, as well as a tried-and-true cast. Ike (Richard Gere) is news reporter who has been assigned to write a feature about Maggie (Julia Roberts), a woman who has left several men at the altar. Although their relationship begins on shaky ground, it eventually blossoms into a romance. However, Maggie's aversion to commitment does not bode well for a happy ending. In keeping with the formula that made Pretty Woman such a success, Runaway Bride also features Hector Elizondo, and is directed by Garry Marshall.
