Description
Roland Emmerich began his career as a German film student in Munich. In 1984, his student film, The Ark Principle, became the surprise hit of the Berlin Film Festival and was distributed for wide release. In 1992, Emmerich made his first Hollywood big-budget action movie with Universal Soldier. In 1996, Emmerich became the master of the summer season when his Independence Day made almost $800 million worldwide. He has since become a staple of the summer season with movies that include Godzilla and The Patriot.
