Description
A native of England, Stephen Frears studied law at Cambridge and later joined the Royal Court Theatre of London. Directorial credits for Frears includes Dangerous Liaisons, which earned six Oscar nomiantions, The Hi-Lo Country, Hero, and Mary Reily. In 1990, Frears received a well-deserved Oscar nomination for Best Director for his work on The Grifters which starred John Cusack, Anjelica Huston and Annette Bening. The romantic comedy High Fidelity re-teamed Frears with Cusack in this story about a record store owner and his love-life troubles.
