Description

Gregory David Roberts will script the feature adaptation of his critically acclaimed novel Shantaram. Johnny Depp plays an Australian heroin addict who escapes to India and reinvents himself as a doctor in the Bombay slums. After getting involved in questionable activities, the doctor travels to Afghanistan and battles the Russians with a mob boss.
