Description
Stephen Sommers, a native of Minnesota, attended St. Johns University and earned a masters degree at USC's School of Cinema where he won an award for a short Perfect Alibi. He became a director in Hollywood on such projects as The Jungle Book and Tom and Huck. When The Mummy turned out to be a smash hit at the box office, he cemented his reputation for big, special effects-laden films.
