Description
Aside from her brief debut in Woody Allen's 1980 film Stardust Memories, Sharon Stone spent the rest of the decade middling in some real cinematic duds. Such loathable films as King Solomon's Mines and Police Academy 4 earned Stone a reputation as a B-movie queen, but the tenacious actress refused to accept that moniker. To her credit, the following decade did present a host of new opportunities, and Stone capitalized on her growing fame. Stone's first major break was her role opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1990's Total Recall, followed by a role opposite Michael Douglas in 1992's Basic Instinct. The latter film featured one of the most infamous scenes in movie history, though Stone's career proved that there is no such thing as bad publicity. Three years after Basic Instinct, Stone received her first Academy Award nomination for her gritty role in Martin Scorsese's, Casino.
