Description
After spending his early career stifled by the conservative nature of Disney, director Tim Burton made his feature debut with 1985's Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Awarded the job based on a short that Disney had rejected, Burton helped make Pee-Wee one of the more popular films of the early '80s. Burton scored again with his 1988 film Beetlejuice before landing the plum job as the director of 1989's Batman. In 1990, Burton wrote and directed Edward Scissorhands, and directed the Dark Knight again in 1992's Batman Returns. Recently, Burton has paid homage to his early inspirations, with the release of 1994's Ed Wood and 1996's Mars Attacks!
