Willem Dafoe broke through with his role as the messiah-like Sergeant Elias in Platoon, which earned him an Oscar nom. He recieved a second nom in 2001 with the role of Max Schrek in Shadow of the Vampire. In 2002, he helped in the success of Spider-Man with his role as the Green Goblin.
