Sony has premiered the trailer for the 1970s set real-life drama American Hustle [AMBUL] on ABC's Good Morning America. Director David O. Russell [DORUS] reunites with Bradley Cooper [BCOOP], Christian Bale [CBALE] and Jennifer Lawrence [JLAWR] for the fictional adaptation of the Abscam scandal when the FBI took down several lawmakers for corruption. The trailer ignores the history while playing up the "Good Times, Bad Times" excesses of the main characters in the disco era. American Hustle opens in limited release on December 13th before expanding wide on Christmas Day.
Brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld, who along with his equally cunning British partner and lover Sydney Prosser, is forced to work for wild, unhinged FBI agent Richie DiMaso. DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that's as dangerous as it is enchanting. Carmen Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator is caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving's unpredictable wife Rosalyn could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down.
