So Who Saw What Last Week? (me - Red Tails: B+, The Iron Lady: C, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close: C-, Set Up (2011 STV): C-)
Red Tails: Predictable and cliched script, with characters who are nothing more than one personality trait and a nickname. But what this film had was heart and spirit, lots of both, which made film very enjoyable. The special effects were clearly on the low end though, enough for me to even slightly prefer the non action scenes like Terence Howards cheesy rahrah speeches.
Iron Lady: Streep was brilliant. Makeup and accents were great. But there really wasnt a movie here, felt more like part of a film (present day Thatcher and her dementia) with a video highlights package mixed in. I didnt like the constant back and forth, a couple great scenes fromt the past lost impact because of it.
ELAIC: Didnt hate it, but thats about all. First, theres no way this kid and his family and their actions exist in real life, made things hard to accept. The big emotional reveal near the end is a great scene, but overall the whole thing was creepy.
SetUp: With Bruce Willis, 50 Cent. No real action or excitement, film did have a sense of humor which helped, but the nonchalant attutide towards violence was weird.
