Movie Musings From Delta House: Some things we think we think (including a new one for us: butt chugging)

Posted by: DTXbro (a.k.a SenJohnBlutarsky) on Oct 05, 14:52

(1)  How could anyone perceive that an announcement of Sienna Miller's participation makes a MovieStock more attractive?  Never-was-been, fungible actress -- neither discernible talent nor star power -- with a modest string of mediocre movies.  Her best chance to sell tickets would seemingly involve Craigslist or StubHub.    Traders can be predictable lemmings.  The Delta brotherhood is beginning to believe that most "news" or "IPO ideas" are posted primarily because the poster just bought the relevant MovieStock.

(2)  Pitch Perfect?  Butter?  Who is coming up with this stuff?   Who thinks of them?  Who funds them?  Who makes them a life's work?  Who is going to see these movies?

The only way we would ever be caught dead watching one of these films is if Mandy Pepperidge or Shelly Dubinski wanted to go.  And even then it would be a close call.

(3)  Even more inexplicable than Pitch Perfect or Butter is this:  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/03/butt-chugging-alcohol-enema-alexander-broughton-university-of-tennessee-pi-kappa-alpha_n_1935385.html

Just watch that video.  Better entertainment than most recent Hollywood product.  And don't miss the letter -- http://www.wbir.com/pdf/alexander_broughton_release.pdf -- unless you want to spare the University of Tennessee Department of English, Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, and some poor Christian church some small measure of humiliation.  What good does this goober's lawyer think he is doing for his client?  Thanks to the Intertubes, this video is destined to pop up every time that poor guy applies for a job, tries to get into a school, or is hoping for a second date.

Two words:  Butt chugging.  Two strange, sad, grotesque words.

Sounds like we at Delta House might have been inconsiderately monopolizing the attention of collegiate females, if that is any indication of what the other fraternities are resorting to.

(4)  Don't buy the Sony Studio Fund unless you like H$$$, and want to make H$$$ without lifting a finger.

(5)  Butt chugging.  Inflaming fratboy anuses since  . . . . well, we don't think for too long, and in our expert opinion it seems unlikely to catch on.

You're a funny guy,I like your posts, so don't take this personally, but Moviesnob Oct 05, 15:00

Are you asserting there is an answer for "Butter," "Pitch Perfect," or Sienna Miller stockjuice? DTXbro Oct 05, 15:05

I've always taken "so and so" joins the cast of… posts as "this movie is that much more likely to happen now." Zoggie Oct 05, 15:13

At least in this case, that's a whiff. Foxcatcher has been active near Pittsburgh for some time. The Sienna news adds nothing, at best.{nm} DTXbro Oct 05, 16:32

That's your opinion. SMILL joining FOXCT is news, plain and simple. {nm} Antibody Oct 05, 17:56

Opinion, agreed; but it does nothing to enhance the 'this movie will be made' quotient. Not a thing. That was the point advanced. {nm} DTXbro Oct 05, 18:07

Then don't accuse someone posting this information of manipulation. {nm} Antibody Oct 05, 18:11

you're right about people posting to move the stock, but just because you dont want to see a movie, doesnt mean theres not value to it {nm} Moviesnob Oct 05, 15:28

SMILL joining FOXCT is real news from a legit source, not non-news posted to move prices. {nm} Antibody Oct 05, 15:35

We asked why this "news" would make a movie/MovieStock more attractive, as a way of opining that no sensible person would view it that way. DTXbro Oct 05, 16:41

Perhaps the initial poster had the stock short and thought SMILL's involvement was a negative. {nm} stevie1der328 Oct 05, 17:12

Yes. And maybe the earth is precisely 9,000 years old. From a scientific perspective, it's all theory. Like gravity. DTXbro Oct 05, 18:09

The news was posted for information, not manipulation. {nm} Antibody Oct 05, 18:18

well just as a side point, gravity is a law. not a theory. {nm} NOLEAFCLOVR Oct 05, 18:32

Believe it or not, gravity is still a theory. In fact, scientists are still unsure what causes it to work. {nm} elchan Oct 05, 18:52

yes, this is true. gravity itself is a law. it. exists and effects physics. so therefore we recognize it as a law.... NOLEAFCLOVR Oct 05, 19:15

You guys really want to argue physics with the brothers of Animal House (Delta Tau Chi)? OK, here goes . . . DTXbro Oct 05, 20:17

Smart scientists, nowadays shy away from calling things "laws" any more. They are starting to understand how little we understand. {nm} elchan Oct 06, 10:17

Not following the argument here. Not everything that exists/observable are considered laws. Newton's "Law" of gravity describes the force elchan Oct 06, 10:27

This is new news. SMILL was not attached to FOXCT before today. You're just wrong. This is not even an issue. {nm} Antibody Oct 05, 17:54

Don't confuse your opinion of SMILL joining FOXCT with the fact of SMILL joining FOXCT. {nm} Antibody Oct 05, 18:03

I agree it is a fact. I opine that it is an inconsequential fact, and that it was posted to precipitate reflexive movement by lemmings.{nm} DTXbro Oct 05, 18:11

I would have posted it. This is news posted for information. How traders react has nothing to do with it. {nm} Antibody Oct 05, 18:15

Bennett Miller's CAPOT delisted at H$10. Prior to today's news, FOXCT was H$8. {nm} Antibody Oct 05, 18:32

In a word, money. IPitch Perfect had a budget of 17 million in my opinion, it will probably more than double...... EuroFund Oct 05, 15:48

And Universal's books will still show it lost money. :P {nm} DTravel Oct 05, 16:06

But not the UNIVXFund! :D {nm} UNIVXFund Oct 05, 18:19

Traders have always been predictable lemmings. They always react to news whether posted or they read it elsewhere. Catzan Oct 05, 18:25

In fact, when folks post opinions like this as opposed to news...that too can influence the market...was always a fine line I hated debating Catzan Oct 05, 18:30

Doesn't everyone who posts news about a stock, know that they will affect the direction of a stock's price? elchan Oct 05, 19:02

1) doesn't his lawyer have a proofreader? He would be "remise"?? 2) I'm pretty sure if you just posted the tag forlorne Oct 05, 19:02
