I missed my $10B milestone last week. In true Roger Moore style, I was cruising around Venice in a gondola. The non-hovercraft version though. So my $10B milestone post is now my #5 LTD milestone post.
Thanks to D.Mac for continuing to run a great game. It can't be easy.
Thanks to everyone who posted in the $10B milestone thread last week - and particularly Paul2K. I felt honoured to have my eleventh figure marked by one of the best traders we have seen in a long while.
Thanks to all of the traders I have either chased, or felt threatened by - and particularly journey, who I always feel is always breathing down my neck. You all forced me to think about how I can do better at this.
Thanks to everyone who makes the HSX boards a better place and makes a positive difference to the community - whether it's by posting useful information, running a fansite or just providing entertainment to others.
To the larger ports - and especially those in the ranks 101 to 200 - this milestone is all about perseverance, not skill. I'm not a particularly gifted trader. Even after 14 years I have not learned how to day-trade properly, and it's pretty rare that I'll appear in the 'Volume Traded' leaderboards. But I've grown my port by $1.5 billion so far this year and I'm frequently at the top end of Kaigee's lists. This is all from having the correct long term positions, the correct medium term positions, trading on news and playing the openers and starbonds. You might think "Easy for you to say, you have a $10 billion port" but I think "All ports above $3 billion are the same". If you have $3 billion, you can take a position on every security on HSX and can earn similar gains - and without making hundreds of trades a day if you don't want to.
I'll be celebrating later this week with a Dom Perignon '02, served below a temperature of 38 degrees Fahrenheit as Sean Connery recommends. Roger Moore's favourite champagne is immortalised in the line "Bollinger? If it's a '69 you were expecting me" but I find Bollinger too acrid for my pallete.
