Generally speaking, with my 20s predict I basically said TREK2 would underwhelm as most fellow traders here expected 30M+ at least.

TREK2 ultimately did worse, but still proved me right in terms of my general prediction of 1st day numbers being disappointing, even if ultimately TREK2 not only performed wayyyy below my already modest expectations but performed below even RS's and MTC's and a few other sites who are quite a bit better at BO prediction than I am.

THR: lowered their weekend estimate to 90-100 - Opens to muted 13.5m Thurs JDolphin May 17, 12:00

That's Paramount's estimate, no mentoin of any new THR estimate. {nm} Antibody May 17, 12:04

rival studios were quick to speculate that the sequel may play more in line with Abrams' 2009 reboot, which opened to $79.2 million. {nm} Oleg Max May 17, 12:06

From V below: “Into Darkness” has outperformed its predecessor by more than 50% in key territories including Australia, Germany and the U.K. Antibody May 17, 12:11

are you referring to overseas grosses? in the past I was pretty sure you said not to rely on those. {nm} Oleg Max May 17, 12:13

Australia and the U.K. are similar to the US since the old English-speaking markets, not new markets like China still adding theaters. {nm} Antibody May 17, 12:16

Cumberbatch has a UK fanbase and australia did only eh biz for 2009 {nm} notfabio May 17, 12:42

not to mention simon pegg UK fanbase {nm} notfabio May 17, 12:43

Hate to pull a Nikki guys, but TOLDJA! TREK2 fell far short of even my own estimates. I said low to mid 20s 1st day. eallensbp May 17, 12:20

My portfolio is falling, "Into the Darkness". This puppy better rebound soon. {nm} elchan May 17, 12:27

is your port looking like this? RazorHawk May 17, 12:42

No, there's more of the Enterprise in that poster, than there is left of my portfolio. {nm} elchan May 17, 13:15

Powerball effect it. I told you guys. {nm} mike255 May 17, 12:36

*sigh* noone is NOT going to see a movie over the ENTIRE weekend because of a lottery drawing. NOLEAFCLOVR May 17, 12:51

To spend $15 on lottery tickets and be disappointed in seconds, or spend $15 on a movie and be disappointed over 2 hours. skamanfu May 17, 13:13

LOL, people who can't afford both a lottery ticket and a movie ticket probably wouldn't spend the $15 on the movie in the first place. {nm} elchan May 17, 13:18

I hope you're taking notes on all this, Razorhawk {nm} RogerMore May 17, 15:08

42 states are doing powerball. It effect Star Trek box office number {nm} mike255 May 17, 13:04

nope! oh and its 43 states. just wanting make sure your math is correct. one extra state should drop the BO by millions! {nm} NOLEAFCLOVR May 17, 15:59
