"So my agenda is to make another one, I just have to figure out a plot that makes sense," he continued. "I'm close, though. On my dressing table, I have a whole list of notes about it."

Does anyone actually want another Unbreakable? Wasn't the first one bad enough?

Yes, I enjoyed it. The post-script was unnecessary, but Unbreakable was the original Man of Steel.

Sixth Sense and Unbreakable are the two of his that I liked and I wouldn't mind an Unbreakable 2. As for the Man of Steel comparison... {nm}

Unbreakable was "original" in a way, and did pay homage to comics including Superman, but obviously Superman began in the 1930s. {nm}

But did any of those comics actually explore the years between Smallville and Metropolis? Batman Begins and Man of Steel owe

The Superman 1978 origin story did, the comics had Superboy in the late 40s, and Smallville was in development in the late 1990s. {nm}

No, Superman 1978 jumped to Clark Kent already a reporter. Superboy was just a younger Superman.

No, Jeff East never wore the suit and had scenes with Pa Kent, Lana Lang, and even racing a train with a young Lois on it. {nm}

Superman 1978 just accepted his powers and the film jumped from teen Clark to adult Clark.
{nm}

Well they spent as much time on it as a Superman movie could, some say too much. As for "accepting" that's debatable. {nm}
KalElFan
May 30, 12:56
Huh? So you're saying 'Man of Steel' is going to be too much?
{nm}

Nope, don't know. Personally I thought the 1978 movie was about right with the backstory. SUPR2 may have better Krypton backstory. {nm}

SUPR2 has a ton more backstory than 1978 exploring Clark Kent leaving Smallville traveling the world to find himself.

If the next TV spot or trailer touts "a ton more backstory" I'm shorting it. :-) {nm}

Batman I'm not sure, though I loved Batman Begins. The original pitch for the Smallville TV series was actually "Young Bruce Wayne". {nm}

Smallville debuted a year after Unbreakable.
{nm}
Antibody
May 30, 12:28
Debuted, yes. But it was announced more than a year prior and in development before that. Unbreakable had zero influence on it. {nm}
KalElFan
May 30, 12:38
Still it was just a teen Clark Smallville. Not the Clark depicted between Smallville and Metropolis in 'Man of Steel'.

That part of the SUPR2 trailers pay HEAVY homage to Smallville + Superman '78. The kid's the spitting image of Tom Welling in one clip. {nm}
KalElFan
May 30, 12:50
Brandon Routh lost out to Welling for the Smallville role BTW. {nm}

I also liked Unbreakable until the last part, which more or less ruined it for me. Sixth Sense is a masterpiece though

Unbreakable 2 should be a non issue after this weekend

MNSHY is nowhere to be found in the marketing. 1THAE is on the Smiths.

Personally, I didn't even notice it was MNS until about a week ago. I think it's mostly associated with Smith & Son & the Premise. {nm}

That's the only movie of his I really liked. But don't see how a sequel would work - since the twist was most of the enjoyment

I enjoyed it too....except the ending broke the "show it don't tell it" rule...I know I've heard that somewhere

After 15 years (by the time it gets made or released), a "reimagining" and/or Next Generations kind of thing is also possible. {nm}

I loved Unbreakable. Would love to see #2, but BWILL might be too old now. They could show what it's like to be a geriatric superhero.

e should just look for something else to do, movies don't seem to be his thing. His first was the only decent thing he has made, imo..

The pilot script that he's directing for the limied series WAYWARD PINES is interesting in a Twilight Zone-esque way.
