The Groans have been remarkably well named. Duug, the father, is an athletic overachiever and Candi, the mother, is a stay at home mom who might struggle, just a little, to connect with her kids. Groan.
Things are much more interesting one generation down. Hunk Groan is the moody, brooding artsy kid, or whatever the equivalent would be in the age of cave painting, whilst his sister Coco is the world’s very first Emo. Things aren’t quite so simple as that, however, as both Groan and Coco’s ambitions play against their obvious physical type. He’s a Hunk who wants to be sensitive, and Coco wants to be a hunter, against the wishes of her parents.
There is one more new character that has a key role to play, but beyond an intimation that Lydia Boggs might be the film’s villain, details have been hard to uncover. She’s a woman, she’s older in age, she might be the antagonist; now you know as much about her as I do.
