I think some of that is because they're (Netflix at least) putting out so much that it's overwhelming
Sometimes it's nice to just throw on something you know. I did watch the first episode of Wild Wild Country this weekend and it was phenomenal, but so much Netflix stuff gets lost in the shuffle because there is now so much of it! I think if that is your only source of entertainment (i.e. you'd fully cut the cord), it'd be possible to stay on top of things a bit but if you still have cable and watch sports or play video games, etc., it's a bit much.
