We love many "little movies." A Man Called Ove is a prominent (because it's not-so-prominent) example. We are not overly enamored of the comic book-superhero-horror spectacles whose computer-animated, dumbed-down content dominates the box office among ostensible adults. The reason we dislike Roma, Shape of Water, Lady Bird, Call Me By Your Name and other recent award magnets is that they were pedestrian works that did not teach, inspire, or entertain.
If someone loved any or all of those films, however, that is great. Slim Jims, 'rasslin shows, vaping, faith healers, and Donald Trump have established that there can be a market for nearly anything.
