AP: Netflix raises their prices by the largest percentage yet (most expensive plan is slightly more than HBO now). Wall Street approves. notfabio Jan 15, 09:04

It's only two bucks more a month but you reach a point to consider cancelling on principle. I will probably keep it for now... RollingThunder Jan 15, 09:16

Something has to give--most subscribers won't pay for all of 'em (Disney for kids, HBO, Hulu, comic book channel, Prime, etc. etc. {nm} DTXbro Jan 15, 09:20

Agreed. Will be interesting to see how much Disney changes the streaming landscape. No doubt they will be a big player. {nm} RollingThunder Jan 15, 09:21

i don't think it's at all certain how big they will be yet {nm} professor zovek Jan 15, 09:25

certainly not netflix big {nm} Moviesnob Jan 15, 09:46

Hulu only just broke 25m subs (80+ short of Netflix). I’d expect Disney+ to initially land somewhere in that range {nm} professor zovek Jan 15, 10:03

i thin they'll be thrilled to launch with 25m. I think they'll need some time but 50m ww in the first 5 years would be my goal {nm} Moviesnob Jan 15, 10:10

pixar will be there (after the Netflix license ends) but thats 20 films (22 after 2019) Moviesnob Jan 15, 10:16

Netflix has tons of content for kids. It'll be hard for parents to cancel. Disney would be an addition, not straight replacement. {nm} Antibody Jan 15, 09:26

Amazon is trying, though. Looks like they have a slate ot originals on the horizon to go along with Maisel. RollingThunder Jan 15, 09:59

they are, but its more complicated than just compete with netflix. they want to own the living room. thats where the competition is going. Moviesnob Jan 15, 10:14

ha ha, they’re already talking about a “one fee” streaming bundle (but don’t call it Cable!) professor zovek Jan 15, 10:08

They are pushing their large increase now to avoid having to do as big of one once Disney+ launches. notfabio Jan 15, 09:26
