I think this take needs some work and here's why.
I know a lot of SW fans. Plenty of them didn't like TLJ. Plenty of them don't like the way the franchise is heading. None of them are the people who get upset about woke-ness and SJWs. I haven't met anyone like that IRL, I only see them on the internet, where they are small but loud.
The people I talk with about Star Wars are upset about other things.
Like, a guy I know who loved TFA because it was fan-service but didn't hated TLJ, because he basically grew up wishing he could be Luke Skywalker and didn't like that happened to Luke in TLJ. A miserable hermit who was tempted to kill his protege? That wasn't the Luke he grew up with.
Or another guy, who wasn't planning to see Solo. "Oh, because of its SJW agenda?" I joked - but he didn't get the joke and I had to explain what an SJW is. He didn't want to see Solo because it seemed to him like a cash-grab - a movie that didn't need to be made, and he didn't want to see a young Han.
So my take is this is what mainstream SW fans think about the franchise. They don't like what has happened with the franchise renewal, but it has little to do with the things that make on-line haters upset. The people who complain about Marey Sues and Soylos remain a "small but loud amount of people".
And it's nearly impossible to have a real conversation about this, because it always gets dominated by those small but loud people.
